Day 248 - An Open Letter to Mattel! - 9/6/2015

Okay, Mattel. You've been fooling around long enough.

You only have until October 21 to make Hoverboards real.

That isn't much time.

I shouldn't even give you that much time. In Back to the Future 2 hoverboards have been a thing for a while. Long enough that little girls in the middle of downtown Hill Valley have them and don't mind too much when they get taken away (as long as they get a Pit Bull) (speaking of which, where the crap are our Pit Bull hoverboards?!).

Oh, and this stuff isn't cutting it.

And Lexus is kinda beating you to it. Only kinda. Theirs only works on certain ramps so far.

So get on it! Please?

Day 247 - Global Icon? What Went Wrong?! - 9/5/2015

Princess Melawesome and I love Korean Dramas!

Through this we started listening to KPop.

Most of KPop is not my cup of tea, but we loved Global Icon!

They only had a couple of songs out when we started listening to them. They released another song or two that were okay, but nothing approaching this:

I'm not going to say this is terrible. It's fine. But it's not the Global Icon Princess Melawesome and I fell in love with.

Granted, it started as us thinking it was silly, cute, and kinda dumb. We watched it because it made us laugh. But Beatles and GI-Yeuk are so damn catchy.

Here:

I don't know if it was the songs, their attempts as speaking English, their lyrics about dancing and getting into the music, their mid-90's Jonathan Taylor Thomas styles, or their Nickelodeon Slime sets that won me over, but I miss all of those things.

Just had to get it off of my mind and onto the Ponder Couch.

Day 246 - Geeking Out on Properties - 9/4/2015

Missed a few days.

Here goes some catch-ups.

Today's (Friday's) Thing-a-Day Thing is a list of 10 things I am obsessed with and would buy everything related to it if I had the money and space to display/store it.

(all pictures from google image searches)

1. Bozo the Clown!

I used to watch Bozo the Clown on WGN every day before school. My Bozo was Joey D'Auria.

The reason I became obsessed with Bozo was because I liked the show and Bart Simpson idolized Krusty the Clown.

I love the Simpsons so I wanted to be like Bart and "idolize" Bozo the Clown!

2. The Simpsons.

I mean, who isn't still obsessed with the Simpsons?

3. Bill and Ted!

Loved the cartoon, got this shirt, watched and loved the movies, cereal, comics, and horrible live action TV series!

Look forward to the sequel!

4. Ghostbusters!

Loved the cartoon. Loved the toys. Miss Ecto Cooler like crazy! Watched the movies 10 million times. Have enjoyed the games and any other merch I've consumed recently.

Love the idea of the new movie!

Hopefully there will be lots and LOTS of new merch!

I loved Filmation's Ghostbusters, too!

5. He-Man!

One of my first obsessions! I loved this cartoon with all of my heart. I saw the Secret of the Sword in theaters and loved it. I saw the live action movie and loved it (even though it's kind of terrible and not much like the cartoon). I had many of the toys, but I never got the Slime Pit or the Fright Zone. :(

I have enjoyed the newest cartoon and the handful of the new comics that I've read.

I hope another live action movie gets made, this time with Orko!

6. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

As with the Simpsons, I think pretty much everybody around my age was in love with, and still is in love with, all thing Turtles!

I didn't hate the new movie, but I miss everything they changed/left out.

7. Roger Rabbit!

I've covered my love for Roger before.

8. My Pet Monster!

Again, see other posts!

9. All of the old Nick Toons!

I miss them all!

This extends to all of the old Nick programming, too.

10. Calvin and Hobbes!

If you've followed the Ponder Couch at all, you've likely read about my great love of all thing Calvin and Hobbes.

That's it!

There are many other things I'm obsessed with (Peanuts comics, all kinds of bands, Tiki culture, Homestar Runner...), but I said I was going to list 10, and these are the first 10 I thought of!

And there is always the WISHLIST!

Day 245 - Mortimer Mouse! - 9/3/2015

Today's Thing-a-Day Thing is Mortimer Mouse!

Not the Disney one. The one from Outland by Berkeley Breathed!

Day 244 - Fat Little Squirrel! - 9/2/2015

Today's Thing-a-Day Thing is a new MisterSeth Song!

From youtube:

A song about a squirrel who lived in our yard. It ate all the pears off of our tree and got really chubby.

Download this song here! https://misterseth.bandcamp.com/track...

All of the pictures for the video were borrowed from a Google search for "free picture squirrel".

Lyrics:

Chorus:

Fat little squirrel
high in your tree
Fat little squirrel
look down at me!
What are you thinking?
What do you see?
Fat little squirrel
I think you're what
I want to be!

Verse:

You spend your day
searching for snacks
hurry cross a wire
then scurry back!
With nuts and berries
your cheeks are packed!
Fat little squirrel
I think your
life is right on track!

Chorus

Verse 2:

I call your name
as you go by.
You twitch your tail
and blink your eyes.
A thorough scolding
is my reply.
Fat little squirrel
I think you're
one outstanding guy!

Chorus

Day 243 - Homegrown Popcorn! - 9/1/2015

This is the second year I've grown pumpkins in my yard for the Halloween season. But this year is also a year of firsts!

Well, one first.

This year I am also growing popcorn!

Popcorn is my absolute favorite food. And since Orville Redenbacher popcorn is grown in Indiana, I decided to buy some air pop popcorn from the store and try my luck!

Here's the first ear:

I picked it a couple weeks back because the stalk was broken and dying. I think I hit it with the lawn mower. Oops.

It looked like something had gotten to it or it hadn't had a chance to grow all of the corn kernels. But rather than throwing it away I decided to pick it and see how it dried and popped!

Today I saw that another ear looked most of the way dried out.

I picked that too! That one should pop up nicely!

Anyway, back to lil' ear.

I put it in the only paper bag I had and popped it (ha!) in the microwave.

Right after it started cooking I could smell a cooked corn smell that I don't usually get when microwaving popcorn.

Then it started smelling burnt.

It was still popping so I let it keep going until the programmed Popcorn time ran out.

Near the end white smoke started coming out of the bag.

I opened the bag to find...

Most of it popped!

The cob burned up, but the popcorn looked like popcorn!

I tried a couple pieces and, yep, that's popcorn!

I'm so proud of myself!

So proud I recreated my byline banner picture!

I found a new pumpkin today!

So excited!

Here's another picture of me where I'm not making a goofy face.
