Day 246 - Geeking Out on Properties - 9/4/2015

Missed a few days.

Here goes some catch-ups.

Today's (Friday's) Thing-a-Day Thing is a list of 10 things I am obsessed with and would buy everything related to it if I had the money and space to display/store it.

(all pictures from google image searches)

1. Bozo the Clown!

I used to watch Bozo the Clown on WGN every day before school. My Bozo was Joey D'Auria.

The reason I became obsessed with Bozo was because I liked the show and Bart Simpson idolized Krusty the Clown.

I love the Simpsons so I wanted to be like Bart and "idolize" Bozo the Clown!

2. The Simpsons.

I mean, who isn't still obsessed with the Simpsons?

3. Bill and Ted!

Loved the cartoon, got this shirt, watched and loved the movies, cereal, comics, and horrible live action TV series!

Look forward to the sequel!

4. Ghostbusters!

Loved the cartoon. Loved the toys. Miss Ecto Cooler like crazy! Watched the movies 10 million times. Have enjoyed the games and any other merch I've consumed recently.

Love the idea of the new movie!

Hopefully there will be lots and LOTS of new merch!

I loved Filmation's Ghostbusters, too!

5. He-Man!

One of my first obsessions! I loved this cartoon with all of my heart. I saw the Secret of the Sword in theaters and loved it. I saw the live action movie and loved it (even though it's kind of terrible and not much like the cartoon). I had many of the toys, but I never got the Slime Pit or the Fright Zone. :(

I have enjoyed the newest cartoon and the handful of the new comics that I've read.

I hope another live action movie gets made, this time with Orko!

6. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

As with the Simpsons, I think pretty much everybody around my age was in love with, and still is in love with, all thing Turtles!

I didn't hate the new movie, but I miss everything they changed/left out.

7. Roger Rabbit!

I've covered my love for Roger before.

8. My Pet Monster!

Again, see other posts!

9. All of the old Nick Toons!

I miss them all!

This extends to all of the old Nick programming, too.

10. Calvin and Hobbes!

If you've followed the Ponder Couch at all, you've likely read about my great love of all thing Calvin and Hobbes.

That's it!

There are many other things I'm obsessed with (Peanuts comics, all kinds of bands, Tiki culture, Homestar Runner...), but I said I was going to list 10, and these are the first 10 I thought of!

And there is always the WISHLIST!

Day 15 - Calvin and Hobbes Made Real Costumes/TBT/Roger Rabbit! - 1/15/2015

I haven't done much "Made Real" or "Project CALVIN and HOBBES" lately because... well. I haven't been able to come up with much.

But here is an idea I had back in October, but did not have the materials to do in October!

But I have the materials now!

So Calvin's Mom made him a superhero costume...

Well, when I was little my Mom made a superhero cape for me (with sleeves, because I asked for sleeves)...

I still have that cape!

Granted, I didn't have a hood, and I called myself  "Super Seth" instead of "Stupendous Man", but I still consider them to be basically the same thing.

I plan to frame my super cape with sleeves some day, like people who can stomach sports frame old jerseys and crap like that. It would look lovely on the wall of my messy office.

Part 2!

Calvin dressed up as a dinosaur for Halloween one year!

And when we were little Mom made many Halloween costumes for my brother Kyle and me! Including...

A dinosaur costume and a Roger Rabbit costume!

Kyle is in the dino costume in the picture. I don't remember for sure if I ever wore it for Halloween, but I for sure remember wearing it around the house.

And look at that amazing Roger Rabbit costume, without the face on the right (how it originally was) and with the face on the left (added later to make it more complete).

And we all know how much I love Roger Rabbit!

Clutter: Stickers All Over the Dressers!

I don't remember exactly when it started but at some point in my childhood I developed a love of sticker-covered things. It might've been a friend's older-sibling's bedroom door, it might've been one of my cousin's skateboards, it might've been some person on TV's dresser. I don't remember what inspired me, but I decided to cover my dresser with stickers.

Here is the front of my once-upon-a-time completely sticker-covered dresser. When I got older and was in my "putting away childish things" phase (before my "let's get those childish things back out" phase that I am currently in... in which I currently am... my phase which currently I am in an will continue... inhabiting.) I decided to take the stickers off. It didn't go so well, so many of them are still on there! Let's see go through them, shall we?

Many, many Roger Rabbit stickers from the trading card series. I was and still am in love with all things Roger Rabbit. So I put a lot of Roger Rabbit stickers on it.

On the right side you can see lots of little music note stickers. I got these from piano lessons. Collections that add up quickly are addictive.

On one side of the dresser you see lots of Super Mario Bros. and Punch Out stickers. I wish I had more of these for other sticker-cluttering projects.

Here we see some TMNT stickers from their trading card packs. I see a the Rocketeer sticker, too. I don't know where I got that one.

Here we see more Super Mario stickers, some "great job!" style stickers from school, some Dole fruit stickers (I think they were from oranges, but it might have been bananas), and my name from a label maker! Like every other kid, I loved seeing my name on stuff. I had scratched my name on the front of my dresser for some reason. I don't know, dumb kid reasons. And not only had I scratched it, I'd scratched each letter backwards. Not just "HTES", but each letter was backwards as well (the E and S facing the other way). Kids are weird. It's still covered with stickers, though, so you can't see my pre-Auto Correct text mistake.

I wonder what kind of stickers those white paper remnants were.

This other side is kind of hard to see. I couldn't get enough light on it to get a good picture, and it's full of fabric (from my mom's sewing collection) so I was too lazy to try to move it to get a better picture.

I can see a Prairie Public Radio bumper sticker (ND), some Colgate and pro-teeth brushing stickers, a bunch of "Buckle Up" and "Don't Drink and Drive" stickers, and a "Say No to Drugs" sticker. My parents gave me the NPR one, but I think the rest were from something at school.

My dresser was sticker-covered because I was copying someone I looked up to. My brother Kyle covered his dresser with stickers as well. He might've looked up to me, too, but it is equally as likely that I told him to do it, too so there was another place to sticker clutter.

Most of his stickers were taken off, but I still see some of the same Super Mario Stickers, a Ron Jon Surf Shop sticker (I'm jealous), a Link sticker, a Punch Out sticker, a dinosaur sticker, a Christmas tree sticker, and puffy butterfly sticker with googly eyes!

There's a Mr. Man or Smurfs or something like that sticker. I think it's a guy holding a flower. I'm not sure what it is.

I think that's another Punch Out sticker and some TMNT sticker remnants.

And that's it! I'll do more Clutter Culture posts as I find more things from my past that are cluttered or if I do any more cluttering.

Do you have anything that you've sticker-cluttered? I'd love to hear about it! Leave a comment or send me a link.

Roger Rabbit!

I love Roger Rabbit!

 All things Roger Rabbit!

I used to have kid's books, cake decoration PVC figures, shirts, a sweatshirt, posters, toys, and lots of other great stuff I don't have anymore.

But I do still have some stuff.

I have the movie and cartoon shorts in VHS and DVD form...

I have 2 of the 3 books (no e-reader for "Who Wacked Roger Rabbit?" Soon...) and all of the comics!

And even most (if not all) of the cards (I should put them in order).

I wish they'd make another movie, but I have a feeling it will never happen.

But while I wait for the movie that will never come, here's a bunch of rare/forgotten videos I found on youtube! Enjoy them while they're still up!

First up, a Diet Coke commercial!

Next, a McDonald's commercial!

Here's some early test footage when Roger didn't look like Roger, Eddie wasn't Bob Hoskins, and Paul Ruebens was Roger's voice!

Here's some surprisingly good computer animation from the 90s! Testing out computer animation for a possible sequel/prequel.

Here's "Mickey's 60th Birthday Special. Roger is in the beginning, onscreen with Charles Fleisher (his voice)!

Now, I know Topher Grace already did this on his site "Cereal Prize", but here's the collection of Maroon Cartoon shorts!

And one last silly video. Here's a Disney Sing-along Songs video with a person in a Roger costume, singing along in Charles Fleischer's voice!

If you have any other rare/forgotten Roger Rabbit videos (other than the special features on the DVD/Bluray) leave them in the comments section!

Here's hoping for Roger Rabbit 2! P-b-b-b-b-b-b-lease!
