SOMEBODY HIT MY GARAGE DOOR WITH A CAR!!!!!!

Guess what I woke up to yesterday!

Yep! Somebody hit my garage door with a car, drove away, and didn't leave a note or anything!

So I got to call off of work and sit at home all day waiting for insurance to call back and tell me we have a $1,000 deductible, the police to come and say there's pretty much no way to find who did it (meaning we have to pay for it), and the garage door repair/replacement technician to tell me the door can't be saved and it will cost well over $1,000 to replace!

They were all really nice about it.

Both cars were fine.

And we're fine, we can pay for it without too much financial hardship, but...

THIS STILL SUCKS!

Again, we aren't going to have to eat ramen noodles for the next 6 months in order to pay for a new garage door or anything like that, but it does put a damper on a lot of things we were planning to do with $1,000.

A Late-Night Trip to Marsh with sethifus!

Yesterday was Saint Patrick's Day.

After Princess Melawesome and I had a few drinks with friends we decided to stop by a Marsh grocery store on the way home to get some snacks and more drinks to see us through the rest of the evening.

The title says "Late-Night" but it was only about 10 o'clock.

One of the first things I saw was this:

It seems like I keep seeing Crystal Pepsi everywhere. I see Surge on occasion too, but not as often as Crystal Pepsi. I saw a big cardboard display tub of them at Target the other day, I see them at random gas stations, and now Marsh a few times.

It kind of bothers me.

It wouldn't, but since it came back in the same year that they brought back and discontinued Ecto Cooler, well... it kind of feels like rubbing salt in a wound.

An emotional wound.

Then I saw this.

Now I have a bit of a problem with anthropomorphism.

It was exacerbated by "The Christmas Toy" and the "Toy Story" movies.

So when I saw Lamb Chop hanging up there in the dog toy aisle, I considered buying her so she wouldn't have to end up mangled by a dog.

But then I thought more about it and thought, "But what if she wants to get mangled by a dog because it's her purpose as a dog toy?"

Then I just felt all kinds of mixed up and walked away trying not to think about the even smaller version of Lamb Chop on a higher peg.

Then I saw these:

Wine Gums are pretty tasty. I tried them one year at Irish Fest. But these boxes frustrated me even further because now Marsh has Wine Gums and Pims (which are pretty much Jaffa Cakes) but they don't have Jelly Babies!

And like any good Doctor Who fan, if Jelly Babies were available at my local Marsh, I'd always have a steady supply of them in my house.


But NOPE! Just Wine Gums so far.


At least there are Wine Gums.



Here's the stuff I ended up getting:

Candy shell chocolate eggs (yum), Doritos Loaded (I haven't tried them yet because the box doesn't tell you how to microwave them, they look like they'll be gross though), Tontino's Pizza Sticks (good if what you want is a long pizza roll), Japanese noodles that look like ramen (figured I'd see if they were any different from the ramen I usually get), Laughing Water beer (the only individual big beer bottle I could find at this Marsh, it's okay), Woodbridge Wine (the favorite wine in the Ponder Haus), and Starburst Jellybeans (the only jellybeans I really like).


In the checkout line I saw this:

and I thought to myself, "When did Mentos start making caramel candies?"




Wow, after reviewing the pictures I took, that late-night trip to Marsh made me angrier than I thought.

Good thing it's not Saint Patrick's Day anymore.

Some New Things...

I haven't updated since the day after my birthday.

Weird. I was doing so well there for a while.

I also ate some more food the wrong way.

It's Freaking Cold!

I guess I never posted this here.

It's still technically Christmas. And it is still cold outside... kinda.


So whatever. It's on here now!

Yeah, I know there's another parody/updated version where there's consent. I haven't watched it. I honestly think the original is more innocent than people make it out to be. But I made this one because I thought of the idea and Melissa thought it was funny too.

Thankful

Halloween is over.

Now on to Thanksgiving!

I probably won't post very often during November.

I'm doing NaNoWriMo again this year.

I did it several years ago, tried again the next year, and just haven't bothered again until this year.

But I'm trying again!

So I spend a good portion of most evenings working on that instead of writing here.

But I wanted to post tonight because I feel Thankful!

15 years ago on Halloween Melissa and I had our first date.

15 years ago tonight Melissa agreed to officially be my girlfriend.

That picture was taken right around then. We can't remember if it was from the day before, the day of, or the next day, but it's the closest we have to a picture from our "real" anniversary.


I'm thankful for a lot of things, but I am most thankful for her every day.

Princess Melawesome's job is exhibit design for the Children's Museum of Indianapolis. Her newest exhibit just opened last weekend.

Day 353 - Snowman Oreo Pops! - 12/19/2015

For today's Thing-a-Day Thing I helped make some Snowman Oreo Pops!

It was a full day of baking Christmas treats with Princess Melawesome and our friend Erin!

We made lots of things like Chex Mix, scones, cookies, etc. But the most Thing-a-Day worthy Thing was the Snowman Oreo Pops!

A couple of them fell apart. We stuck them back together and they ended up looking like Cookie Monster and Grover!

They were my two favorites.

We've already eaten them both.

Day 346 - Hi Sam - 12/12/2015

Today's Thing-a-Day is a cover of a song from "Clarissa Explains It All"!

My own Princess Melawesome Joan Hart took lead vocals on this one.


We just started watching CEIA on Hulu. It's so full of pop culture references! I'm surprised.

I mean, Clarissa mentions They Might Be Giants in the first few minutes of the first episode!

14 years ago this evening Princess Melawesome agreed to be my girlfriend!

Live has just gotten better ever since.

Day 303 - Thankful! Hand Turkey! - 11/1/2015

Today's Thing-a-Day Thing is 2015's Hand Turkey!

I did a Thankful Every Day thing last November. I'll try it again.

Today, first and foremost, is my wife. Princess Melawesome is awesome.

She's seriously the best!

I'd marry her all over again.

It's a super-awesome wolf! It's a-howling! This pumpkin was from a trip to a commercial pumpkin patch. It's much bigger than the ones I grew.

Day 219 - More Shirts!!!! - 8/8/2015

I helped make 3 things today!

But they rely on other people and some time to pass before they will be done so...
