IT'S HALLOWE'EN SEASON!!!!!

Look at that beautiful header that Geoff made!

IT'S HALLOWE'EN SEASON!!!!!

I love Halloween!

Let's add some new stuff to those old videos I just posted!

Look at my new tattoo! I got it last month!

It's sort of 2 tattoos. I already had Charlie Brown, but the pumpkins were added around him, and he got colored in. So it's basically one big tattoo instead of a tattoo I already had surrounded by a new tattoo.

It was really hard to take that picture with my webcam.

MORE HALLOWE'EN-RELATED STUFF!

I love Ghostbusters!

Old/New, Boy/Girl, Cartoon/Real, Filmation/"Real". It's all good.

I found out from Dinosaur Dracula several weeks ago that Wayback Burgers had some Ghostbuster promo food because of the new Ghostbusters movie coming out on bluray.

After a googlemapsing I found that there was one a couple hours away! Princess Melawesome agreed to go with me and found it!

It's in a mall food court!

I got all 3 items and they were all pretty good!

My favorite part was the shake!

The burger had Ghost Pepper sauce on it, and there was Ghost Pepper sauce for dipping the Mac n Cheese bites. The Ghost Pepper sauce tasted great, but was a bit too hot for me to finish.

I did get a fun Burger Pick thing:

I just checked the Wayback Burgers site and it looks like they're still available! Go get some!

That's all the new Hallowe'en Goodness I have for you so far!

Well, except for this picture I took of myself in the Trader Joe's bathroom because it was October 1st, I was wearing one of my Jack-o-lantern shirts, my hair looked amazing, and I felt cute.

More to come as soon as I get it made or find it!

PS: I read awhile back on Neil Gaiman's tumblr that Halloween is acutally "Hallowe'en"! I like that better. So I'm going to start writing it that way when I remember to!

Day 219 - More Shirts!!!! - 8/8/2015

I helped make 3 things today!

But they rely on other people and some time to pass before they will be done so...

I made some more shirts you can buy at the Ponder Couch Store!

I made a male and a female version of the dark shirt for each image!

Below are a picture of each new shirt! (some male, some female). Most of the images are the byline pics for everyone who has published something on the Ponder Couch!

The last two are my favorites.

Again, you can buy all of these at the Ponder Couch Store! And you should!

At least a few of them.

The holidays are just around the corner! Kind of...

I opened a new cafepress store, too. So far there is just one design, but it's on a lot of stuff.

I plan to add more designs. Some time. After I've made more designs.

Day 123 - Bcast Drinking Game!

Today's Thing is a Drinking Game for this podcast:

Here is the BCastCult with Mike and Mal Drinking Game!

Take 1 Drink if:

* There is a guest.
* Someone burps or clears their throat.
* Someone says "boobs".
* Someone talks to a pet.
* You can hear a train go by.

- Mike
* Says a film is "fun for the whole family"/
* Says "blah blah blah".
* Says "that's neither here nor there".

- Mal
* Says "Mmm-hmmm."
* Mentions another podcast.
* Mentions her Twitch Channel.

Take 2 Drinks if:

* Mike or Mal is not on the episode (that's 4 Drinks for the My Pet Monster Episode!)
* Geoff or another regular is on the episode.
* Someone mentions falling asleep during the featured movie.

Take 3 Drinks if:

* Someone says a phrase that ends up on a BCast t-shirt.
* There is an interview in the episode.

Finish Your Drink If:

* Joe from Harley Poe is on the episode.
* Mike and/or Mal start getting political.
* Someone says to edit something out.

That's it! That's the game!

I could add more stuff, but this is more than enough to get you drunk enough that you won't remember how the podcast ends.

Please to enjoy the BCast!

Suncoast Motion Picture Company - a Memorandum

Back in September of 2011 I wrote a review of defictionalized Cheesy Poofs. In the article I mentioned my love for the Suncoast Motion Picture Company and said I would write more about it later.

(picture from a google search)

NOW IS THAT LATER!

I love the Suncoast Motion Picture Company today just as much as I did when it was still only 15 miles or so away from me in Sioux Falls when I lived in Hartford. I would frequent the store, browsing and downright loitering every time I visited the mall (frequently).

The thing about the Suncoast Motion Picture Company was... sure, they had VHS tapes. That is where I bought my video copies of "Mystery Science Theater 3000: the Movie", "Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail", and saw a physical copy of "The Garbage Pail Kids Movie" (dear lord, do not watch it)... And it was the first place I bought a DVD when those started showing up in stores. I think they used to sell laser discs as well.

The thing about the Suncoast Motion Picture Company was... yes, they had CDs and comic books. Suncoast was the first time I realized that "Tank Girl" was a comic book before it was a movie. They had a copy of one of the trades. I thumbed through it and swore one day to own it. (I have read it more than once, but do not own a copy as of yet).

The thing about the Suncoast Motion Picture Company was that they were the first place I found defictionalized products! Suncoast had the first box of real life Cheesy Poofs I ever tried.

(picture from www.sideshowcollectors.com)

Suncoast had the only for-human-consumption Scooby Snacks I've ever seen (and purchased, I'd love to find them again so I could do a review).

(picture from wikipedia.com)

When the movie version of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" came out, Suncoast had the knitted version of the characters. They were amazing.

(picture from starstore.com)

Suncoast had lots of toys, including the scary Todd McFarlane fairy tale toys, Space Ghost: Coast to Coast toys, and decks of cards in over-sized fictional beer and soda cans.

(Me and Slurm and Fry!)

There were so many reasons to love the Suncoast Motion Picture Company... is what I'm trying to say.

Suncoast was around before I knew that I could get almost anything in the store off of the internet. Given the choice I would still go to Suncoast instead of using giant online stores (amazon.ca, what's the website for that?).

I even applied to work at Suncoast one summer. They took my application and told me that they thought there might be a position opening up soon. They never called me back.

*****

When I was researching Cheesy Poofs for the 2011 post I found out that there was still a Suncoast Motion Picture Company store open at the Fort Wayne mall in Indiana! I got unreasonably exited about it and decided to visit right away so I could write an article about it for the pondercouch.

So I finally got around to it a few weeks ago.

Sir Mike, Geoff, and I drove the 2 hours and change to see this Suncoast store in person. I'd called the store a few months before to make sure it was still a Suncoast and hadn't been turned into an FYE. I like FYE stores okay, but they just aren't as nostalgic as Suncoast...

We walked all over the mall, hoping to happen upon it.

I'd even looked online and saw that there were pictures of it on yelp from 2012. So it had to still be there, right?

We never found it.

After we walked around the mall we broke down and looked at the directory. The directory still listed it. We checked the place the directory said it should be and it was a Forever 21 or some other such nonsense.

I fought back man-tears as we got some food court pizza (me) and cheese steaks (them). I got some Funyuns, too. As we ate I looked up and called the Suncoast store number. It was out of service.

We had been defeated by the higher powers. And my poor planning/research skills.

At least there was a wicked-awesome 2 story carousel next to the food court that we could watch as we ate and I sulked.

(wicked-awesome. Taken with my iphone.)

On our way into town we noticed a store near the mall named "Ollie's Bargain Outlet"!

(This is a photo I took of the Ollie's in Carmel IN, just north of Indianapolis)

We had to check it out! It turns out Ollie's is full-to-the-roof with marked down merch. From the website: "Ollie’s Bargain Outlet is one of America’s largest retailers of closeouts, excess inventory, and salvage merchandise."

Every section has a sign with a great drawing of Ollie with some kind of pun or play on words relating the merchandise in that section.

You have everything for Christian YA novels to Cheese Doodles to jumpsuits that would be perfect for a Ghostbusters cosplay!

We loved it! Geoff bought some off-season Capri Sun Jingle Berry Juice.

It was amazing.

All-in-all, it was a great trip.

Happy birthday Sonic! A month long celebration. Part 2

In the spirit of Bryans review of the Sonic Sega emulator I have decided to chime in on Sonic with some of my own memories.

The first time I played a Sonic game was at my friend Noah VanNotes birthday party.  He got the original Mark I Genesis with the volume slider.  It was a lot of fun to set up the system and launch into some classic games.  That day we played Eternal Champions, Street Fighter 2, and Sonic the Hedgehog.  Out of those three I had played SF II at the arcades and had no idea of the others even though I read into every video game magazine I could get my hands on.  The game I had the most fun with was definitely Sonic.  The speed was mind blowing and the music was fantastic even ignoring the usual Sega issue of "tinny" music.

I remember going home and wanting a Genesis more than anything.  My Super Nintendo was collecting dust as I had played through Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past already as well as Super Mario Bros.  I finally got the Genesis Mark II that came bundled with Sonic the Hedgehog 2!  I was so excited I could not wait to play the game that I had waited sooo long for.  I expected just about the same thing as the first time but low and behold my expectations were shattered as Sonic 2 seemed faster and a little more fluid with the movements.  Sonic also got his sidekick Tails to join him for this version.  I was floored and spent a good chunk of my sad little life playing that game.  I eventually moved on to play the other Genesis "classics" but none of them ever held the magic that the first time playing Sonic did for me.  Sega unfortunately was way ahead of it's time for too long and its next systems released never recaptured that magic that the Genesis had.  That is not to say they did not have their share of excellent games but in the end after creating one of my favorite consoles of all time, the Dreamcast, Sega stepped out of making hardware but the did not stop Sonic from making appearances on other systems even going so far to appear on the Nintendo GameCube.  Until next time I leave you with the opening and closing of Sonic CD featuring the song Sonic Boom.  Thanks friends and see you again soon!

Sites I love: Creepypasta.com

Creepypasta is a user submitted short story site mostly dealing with horror.  There are several different kinds of horror to read.  My personal favorites are the entries in Beings & Entities which include stories about demons and other assorted visitors from other planes.  I was turned on to this site a couple years ago when I started looking into information on the Slenderman.  The site itself is pretty plain being a black background with a picture of a spooky forest as the only site related image. The right hand side is where you will find links and advertising which at times has some spooky images vaguely related to the site.

The sections are: Artifacts & Objects, Beings & Entities, Dreams & Madness, Locations & Sites, Murders & Deaths, Rites & Rituals, Strange & Unkown, and Uncategorized.  Each story is screened before being accepted to the site and then is subject to user review and critique.  There are numerous stories of creators that went on to write books based on the stories that they have created.  The site is not without "funny" horror stories as well so there is something for anyone to find and read.  If you are bored and looking to get your heart racing with some good horror give creepypasta.com a try.  Thank you and have a good night.

Some of my recommended stories are:

Mr. Widemouth

Rapture

The Devil Game
