Day 249 - Labor Day(bor) Made Real! - 9/7/2015

Today's Thing-a-Day Thing is Labor Day!

It's my Made Real version of this:

I sat on my cooler, by the Stick, and talked to Dogwood as she went by.

Watch the cartoon here!

Happy Labor Day!

Day 183 - Melonade! A Sort of Defictionalized Product Review! - 7/2/2015

And just like that we are over halfway through my year of Thing-a-Day Things!

Today's Thing is a review of an accidentally defictionalized product! Or at least it's not officially related with the property in which I have seen it...

Here, watch the review to make some sense of my ramblings above:

From this video's youtube description:

Here is a review from the Ponder Couch of Seagram's Escapes Lime Melonade!

I have never seen real Melonade for sale before I found this in my local Marsh grocery store. The only place I'd ever seen Melonade was in Homestar Runner cartoons!

After a bit of research there are other Melonades on the market. Who knew?

This one is pretty tasty for a melon-lime malt beverage. Check it out!

And I agree. It is pretty tasty. You should check it out! And tell Seagram's I sent ya.

Day 57 - Bad MSPaint Art: homsar - 2/26/2015

I love everything homestarrunner.com. This is homsar. He is one of my favorite parts of the Homestar Runner-verse.  He is today's Thing.

I wish they would make Homestar Runner stuff every week again. They've made a few new things recently, but it's not nearly enough to feed my addiction.

Made Real: Homestar Runner - The Denzel and Suudsu!

The Denzel and Suudsu are from the "Bedtime Story" sbemail. Go watch it!

From the Homestar Wiki:
" The Denzel is a "security item" that The Cheat sleeps with. According to Strong Bad, The Denzel  is a "grodalated" old sponge covered in bandages. The Cheat has needed The Denzel ever since watching a "shock-you-mentary" about gingivitis which scared him into insomnia. The Cheat likes to curl up with The Denzel and a nice glass of Suudsu while hearing a bedtime story from Strong Bad. It is a reference to the movie Man on Fire, where Dakota Fanning's character has a "security item", a teddy bear that she names for Denzel Washington's character."

Here he is in the sbemail:

And here he is Made Real!:

Again, as with Peanut Strong Bad Action Figure, the size/scale of some of the Denzel's parts are different in the sbemail than in their real-life counterparts. Here the size of the cartoon sponge to the cartoon band aids doesn't quite match up to the real-life sponge and band aids. I did okay with the placement and marker drawings, but it still looks a bit different. I made the grodalation with some food dye.

And now, SUUDSU! From the homestar wiki:
Suudsu (pronounced SUD-zoo) is a mixture of skim milk and gummi bears. It is The Cheat's favorite bedtime snack. He needs it to fall asleep at night along with "The Denzel" and other rigamarole. Strong Bad has also taken to it, describing it as "Pure Genius!" and "G-E-W-D, gewd". "Skim milk, Gummy bears... pur genius." Some mornings The Cheat, if he is still alive after being subjected to bug bombs, will fix Strong Bad and Strong Mad a big pitcher of this delicious concoction.

(from hrwiki.org)

And my Suudsu Made Real!:

And the final picture, from the hrwiki:

Made Real!:

Yeah, I put a towel down for The Cheat. My grill is not even approaching clean enough to sleep on.

I tried the Suudsu too!

It tasted like a milk shake, or like milk that had Fruity Pebbles or Fruit Loops in it. Pretty good.

Made Real: Peanut Strong Bad Action Figure!

(Pic from the Homestar Runner Wiki)

In the sbemail Action Figure Strong Bad showed us the action figure he made of himself. He made it out of a peanut, 2 pipe cleaners (chenille stems, I guess they're called chenille stems now for some reason), paint/markers, and googly eyes.

I decided to make my own!

One thing I realized as I bought the materials is that the Brothers Chaps did not pay the best attention to the size of peanuts vs. the size of pipe cleaners/chenille stems and googly eyes. The biggest peanut I could find in the bag I bought is much smaller than the other materials than the one SB made. Are there bigger, jumbo peanuts available that would be more like the one SB used?

I still like it.

I think SB might've used paint to make the face on his action figure. I didn't have the right colors of paint, so I used Crayola markers.

So my action figure's face isn't as clear as SB's. It was hard to get the ink into all the crevices. And the colors ended up darker on the peanut than I was hoping.

Even though it is not exactly the same as SB's, it is now Made Real!

You can see SB's Peanut Strong Bad action figure in the sbemails 2 emails   and   diorama !

(Pic is a screenshot I made from the Homestar Runner site)

I suggest you make your own Peanut Strong Bad.

Have you ever Made Real something from one of your favorite properties? If so, tell me about it or link to it in the comments!

Made Real: Onion Bubs from H*R!

In the Homestar Runner cartoons there is a character named Bubs.

(Pic from hrwiki)

In the sbemail "original" Strong Bad talked about all the different Bubses they've had over the years. These included Onion Bubs.

(Pic from hrwiki)

I made one!

I hope you love Onion Bubs as much as I do! My only wish is that he was made of more permanent stuff so he could stay with me for always!

Made Real: H*R- Marshie and Cold Ones!

I've been making things from the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip real for almost 1/2 a year now for Project CALVIN and HOBBES! I plan to keep making something for Project C and H for as long as I can, but I've decided to expand it into"Made Real"!

For the "Made Real" series I will be making fictional things real from other sources that also make me happy! It could be other comics, cartoons, shows, movies, etc. Whatever I wanna make real, I'll make real!

I was thinking about calling the series something like "Joy Made Real" or "Awesome Made Real", but any and all of those just didn't seem enough. So I am going the Jack White III route and stripping it down to the essence: Made Real. It means all of those wonderful adjectives are becoming incarnate entities. I am taking stuff I love that doesn't really exist and turning them into little works of... real.

To start off the non-Calvin and Hobbes Made Real stuff I'm focusing on Homestar Runner! Homestar Runner and Strong Bad have been important to my ever since my friend Justin Whitcomb introduced me to them back in 2000-mumbles. I love them almost as much as C and H, but I do not have any H*R characters tattooed on me.

The first thing I've Made Real from Homestar Runner is Marshie! I took a real marshmallow, took a bite out of it, and drew on it.

That's... not as good as I remembered it being....

Here's the other!

Mmmmmm.... Cold Ones!

I didn't actually make any beer. These were empty bottles that I took the label off... of... and added my own sticker Cold Ones label! I took the Cold One image from the Homestar Wiki and printed it on sticker label paper! Then stuck them to the bottles.

They might've been root beer bottles. I don't remember.

Cheats like 'em.

A little too much. Cheat, don't spill any Cold One on the Ponder Couch! Princess Melawesome says "The Cheat needs to calm it down"!

That's it for the makin' stuff portion of this article post. Here's my Homestar Runner collection!

I've seen all of the cartoons and played the games and stuff on the interwebs.

Here's all of the DVDs!

The two shirts I have

Both are Cheat-related. I used to have the Homestar star, but I... don't... anymore...

The CD!

The Limozeen sticker that came with the CD!

... covered by a Ravenclaw sticker...

2 key chains!

And I had the Strong Bad messenger bag, but it got all ripped up. So I cut out the SB image and sewed it onto another messenger bag. Which also got worn out. Then I cut it out and sewed it onto my current messenger bag!

Lookin' good, Strongabea!

And the action figures!

on my embarrassingly-dusty shelf! I don't have series 2. I thought I did. I was wrong.

I also have Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People! digitally. I bought it for the computer and then for the Wii. I also have the Aquabats album with Strong Bad singing about Pink Pants! Also digital. Here's a video of him singing it with the Bat Commander!

And I think that's it! I would love to have more shirts and the 2nd series of figures from the Homestar Runner Store!

You know... if you wanna buy me something...

A Wishlist for Imaginary Things

Last week I wrote about my Ponder Couch Christmas List. Those are all things that you can/could buy. This list is a wishlist for things that do not actually exist (outside of movies/tv shows). Here are some products I want Defictionalized so I can review them. Let's get to it.

1. Cuke

Cuke Cola from the "Friend Face" episode of the IT Crowd.

I would love to have a can of Cuke to review. I would crack it open, take a sip, and say

2. Duff Beer

I have written about Duff Beer before.

I know that there are lots of versions of Duff Beer that are unofficial (I want to try them ALL but NONE of them are available in my area), and there is even real Duff Beer available in Universal Studios Florida, but I would like it to be widely available. I would love to be able to drive over to Marsh and pick up a sixpack of Duff to take home and drink while I watch DVDs of the Simpsons.

Sigh...

3. Melonade and Fluffy Puff Marshmallows

I love Homestar Runner. I wish they were still making new Homestar Runner and Strongbad cartoons. I also wish I could buy these products and pretend that I could go to Free Country, USA.

4. Anything from Back to the Future 2

I want Power Lace Nikes (real ones that actually powerlace), Pepsi Perfect, and Hoverboards.

I would settle for one pink Mattel Hoverboard that actually hovered.

5. Stuff made by ACME and Krebstar

Yes. I know there are lots of manufacturers named Acme, but I want the kinds of things Wylie Coyote bought.

I just wish they were out there, making fantasy more real.

That's it for this list! I might make another one some other time when I think of more products I'd like defictionalized, but for now...

Can somebody please buy me a real Duff Beer....

or pay for my trip to Universal Studios?

Please...?
