If We Didn't Eat Cheesy Poofs...

I did it.

I ordered a box of Cheesy Poofs from 1998.

Here's the proof:

Did you watch it yet?

SPOILERS!

They were awful!

That was one of the worst tastes I've had in my mouth in a long time.

It tasted kinda dusty and kinda medicinal.

I do not recommend eating expired Cheesy Poofs.

Frosted Krusty O's Krusty Brand Cereal!

I did a new review!

This cereal came out as part of the promotion for the Simpson's movie. Back when they turned some 7-Elevens into Kwik E Marts. They had KrustyO's, pink Doughnuts, Squishees, and Buzz Cola (which Sir Mike got and gave one to me, and then I reviewed it!).

These KrustyO's tasted like stale Fruit Loops.

So not horrible.

I made a playlist of all my Simpsons-related videos!

Watch them all!

Day 183 - Melonade! A Sort of Defictionalized Product Review! - 7/2/2015

And just like that we are over halfway through my year of Thing-a-Day Things!

Today's Thing is a review of an accidentally defictionalized product! Or at least it's not officially related with the property in which I have seen it...

Here, watch the review to make some sense of my ramblings above:

From this video's youtube description:

Here is a review from the Ponder Couch of Seagram's Escapes Lime Melonade!

I have never seen real Melonade for sale before I found this in my local Marsh grocery store. The only place I'd ever seen Melonade was in Homestar Runner cartoons!

After a bit of research there are other Melonades on the market. Who knew?

This one is pretty tasty for a melon-lime malt beverage. Check it out!

And I agree. It is pretty tasty. You should check it out! And tell Seagram's I sent ya.

Day 95 - Flaming Moe Energy Drink Defictionalized Product Review! - 4/4/2015

It's been a while since I've done one of these!

Sir Mike bought this for me a couple weeks ago. I finally got around to reviewing it!

I know. I say "I don't taste any different". I'm good with words.

Any ideas for defictionalized product reviews? I'll review any defictionalized products I can find!  Especially if they are sent as gifts!

The Best Defictionalized Product Ever!

I love the Talkboy! Even though it doesn't work very well (see the video review above).

This Talkboy is not the one I got all those years ago. That one stopped working and I threw it away. This one I got off of ebay last year. It doesn't work very well and is missing the door for the batter compartment.

It looks a lot like the Talkboy in "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York", but not exactly like it. The things that stand out the most to me are that it is not the same shape.

Here it is in the package.

Here it is in the movie. (as usual, any photos I didn't take myself I got from a google image search).

Here is my Talkboy.

They look a little different.

I also noticed that the battery compartment of Kevin's Talkboy is on the bottom.

Whereas mine is on the back.

I can't find any stills of it, but Kevin's Talkboy has a green light and a red light by the speed controls. Mine does not.

In my video review you can see my Bozo Bop Bag clown toy Weeble thing. It's pretty cool.

But it's not exactly like Kevin's Bozo in the movie. His had arms.

Here's the video of the shower scene with Bozo. (until it gets taken down).

I also had the Monster Sap soap/gel that Kevin got from the toy store.

I had the purple one. It was just foam soap. I couldn't get it to shoot out like in the movie.

There were many other products in Home Alone 2, some of which were probably made into defictionalized products as well, but for my money the Talkboy is, and probably always will be, the best defictionalized product ever.

Peet a Moloko My Little Droogies

This time I review a product that is sort of a defictionalized product. Moloko Milk Stout from Three Floyds Brewing.

I liked it a lot! But then I like milk stouts a lot.

The picture on the label is a variation on the "A Clockwork Orange" cover.

With the addition of the Three Floyds crown thing.

Does it look like the Moloko from the movie?

Not really.

Does it taste good?

Yes. I highly recommend it. It tastes much like other milk stouts I've had, but better. Maybe that is just because you can only get it sometimes. Three Floyds only makes it once in a while. They brew it, put it on shelves, and when each batch sells out, it's gone. I thought I'd missed it completely then found a few bottles. Get it, if you can!

Snoz... what?

So Wonka Candy. There was a couple books, then a movie, then another movie. They made candy to promote the movie. Everybody knows about this stuff, so I won't spend too much time on it. I'm going to do a quick comparison of the only two products that I can still find that were actual products in the books or movie.
Everlasting Gobstoppers.
And the Wonka Bar/Scrumdiddlyumptious Bar/Whipple-Scrumptious Fudgemallow Delight, depending on the book or movie you like best. The Everlasting Gobstopper (gobstopper is another word for jawbreaker) looks like this in the first movie:
The book did not have any pictures of it, and I couldn't find any pictures of it in the new movie on google. But I think it basically looked like a normal jawbreaker, just like the defictionalized product. The one in the original movie looks to me like one of those Bumble Balls:
And it tastes... like a jawbreaker. The Wonka Bar
has gone through many changes over the years. I liked the one that had graham cracker in it. It was pretty good. The one you can get now:
has little pieces of toffee in it, and I don't like that as much. The packaging is in the right color scheme, though. Which I appreciate. In all I like Wonka Candy, and as far as defictionalized products go it was one of the first I can remember buying and enjoying. It has been around as long as I remember and I don't see it going away any time in the near (or not too distant) future. Oh, and their new vending machines are pretty cool:

Is it Tru? Is it Tru?

So, I got a bottle of Tru Blood Energy Drink:

I watched the first season of the show and read that comic trade up there. I enjoy this stuff! I might read one of the books it's all based on some time. Whelp, let's open it up:

It certainly LOOKS like blood of some sort...

Hmmm... in the glass it looks more like blood orange (like it says on the label). Let's see if it tastes like blood...

Yeah... I know I need a haircut (I tried this awhile ago, my hair is less moptop now).

The verdict? It's pretty good. It doesn't taste like any blood I've ever imbibed before, and it tastes quite a bit like blood orange juice. The bottle looks pretty much like the bottles of the stuff on the show, so that's good.

All in all, I'd rather have a

SOAP!!!!!

I got a box from Geeky Clean!!!

Geeky Clean is a wonderful purveyor of geeky soap.

This time around I got the Firefly Collection and Monkey Farts.

Many of the Geeky Clean Soaps come with a toy prize inside! (just like Cracker Jacks and cereal used to!) I like that. The Wash-o-Saurus bar has a toy T-rex in it and the Monkey Farts has a Barrel o' Monkeys monkey in it.

The soap also has a hard plastic packaging, the lids of which have bar-specific labels that can be collected like trading cards! Even more appropriate for geeks.

I put the Fruity Oaty Bar in our downstairs bathroom. It smells like a fruit mixture and reminds me of fruit snax.

The Monkey Farts on the sink in my bathroom. It has a strong and pleasent banana scent.

And the Wash-o-Saurus in my shower. It has a lovely fruit punch scent.

I've been enjoying them all and highly recommend Geeky Clean to all of you geeks!
