Day 85 - Charlie Brown (bad MS Paint) - 3/25/2015

Today's Thing-a-Day Thing is Charlie Brown.

My MS Paint version doesn't do Schulz's wave lines justice.

AUUUGH!

Optimus Prime! (This Week's WOW from the Children's Museum of Indianapolis)

Princess Melawesome made a thing!

She was part of that video!

It's advertising for the exhibit at the Children's Museum of Indianapolis she developed! It's all about the Transformers!

You should definitely go to it before it closes!

If you want to see the Optimus big rig, you better get there before April 6th!

Day 84 - MisterSeth Song! "Classroom Rules! (PreK 2015)" - 3/24/2015

Hey! Tomorrow's Thing-a-Day Thing is up early!

The lyrics were written by my co-teacher Pam! I added the tune!

Huzzah for early Things! I doubt I'll keep this Thing buffer very long, but for now I'm going to enjoy it!

If you have children, please check out my other MisterSeth Songs
and consider becoming my patron!

Day 83 - MisterSeth Song! "Everybody's Jumping!" - 3/23/2015

What a great video thumbnail!

Today's Thing-a-Day Thing is a quick song to get your preschoolers moving for a bit!

The words are basically "Everybody's Jumping... up and down! Everybody's Jumping... now they're sitting on the ground!" And you sing it twice!

Day 80 - Princess Melawesome's Birthday Unicorns! - 3/20/2015

This is a day late.

It was Princess Melawesome's Birthday yesterday so I did not get anything made.

I asked her today what Thing I should make to put up for her birthday.

She said "Unicorns."

I asked, "More than one?"

She said, "Yes."

I don't know if she'll like it or not.

Day 77 - Oddly Cornish - 3/17/2015

Today is the first of a series of poorly Photoshopped images inspired by the names of NPR personalities.

This is Oddly Cornish.

More another time!

Day 76 - Doodles - 3/16/2015

I didn't get a Thing made yesterday. So I made something today to put up for yesterday.

It's a doodle. I doodled while I was trying to come up with an idea. This is it.

There's a heart/flower thing. A sarcastic looking elf/smurf without a hat. And... GROUND  BEEF!!!

I made it. It counts as a Thing.

Day 75 - Ponder Couch Challenge Coin - 3/15/2015

I love the podcast "99 Percent Invisible".

A while back one of their episodes inspired me to design a flag for the Ponder Couch. I still hope someone will make that flag into a real flag for me to fly.

Today I listened to the newest episode of 99 Percent Invisible. It was about Challenge Coins. These coins originated in the military. They are for people to give each other as a sign of respect, thanks, love, etc.

There is a lot of meaning wrapped up in them. There is even a drinking game designed around them.

The episode talked about how many different groups now have Challenge coins: police, firefighters, even Jimmy Buffet! It got me to thinking...

I would love to have a Ponder Couch Challenge Coin.

Apparently anyone who can pay for it can design and mint up some Challenge Coins.

"99 Percent Invisible" talked to the guy behind coinforce.com . I looked at their site a little. I don't know for sure, but I imagine having your own Challenge Coin made isn't cheap. I probably can't afford it.

But that doesn't stop me from making a quick MS Paint design for one:

So if anyone wants to pay for this design to get made... I wouldn't say no.

Day 71 - Winter Wonderland Part 2: The Spring Thaw - 3/12/2015

Back on day 60 I posted about a snowman and snow fort Princess Melawesome and I made. It was snowing and cold, but not too cold.

We have had a few warmer-actually-nice days since then, and our snowman and snow fort aren't so much there anymore.

Today's Thing-a-Day Thing is the aftermath of those days.

Here is what the snowman looked like when we built him.

Here is what he looked like this evening.

He tipped over and melted quickly. Be glad I didn't post the in-between pictures.

Here is the glorious fort we built on that fateful day.

Here is how it looked on this sequel-day.

Sad.

Sad.

Sad.

At least the warmer weather is here! Soon Princess Melawesome and I will be able to take trips and get up to Spring/Summer shenanigans!

Day 69 - Vikings! - 3/10/2015

Today's Thing-a-Day Thing is the last scene of a movie. It's a scene that has been bouncing around in my head, with no other scenes of the movie, for a long time.

(all illustration images from Google image searches)

Here goes!

(Scene opens on a Viking Ship.)

(It is in a dry waterbed).

(Shot tightens onto the boat and Asger Sjoberg, the Viking leader.)

(He looks out at the dry waterbed with a hard look that conveys loss, regret, and sadness. At least, as much of those things as a bad-assed Viking's face can convey. He betrays the emotions that his face won't by letting out a short sigh. Cut to dry waterbed where a small splash of water darkens the soil.)

(It immediately evaporates, but a moment later there is another, and another... pretty soon it is starting to rain.)

(Asger feels a drop on his face. He reaches up and touches it. His eyes widen. He feels more drops. He leans over the edge of the boat and pops his eyes at the sight of water on the ground. A genuine smile crosses his face.)

ASGER: (quietly) It's raining, men.

FRITJOF: (another Viking who looks where he is looking and whispers, reverently) Hallelujah.

(Rain picks up, thunder).

ASGER; (joyfully, at the top of his lungs, laughing) IT'S RAINING, MEN!!!

CHORUS OF VIKINGS: Amen!!!

(Asger and all of the other Vikings laugh, shout, dance, and celebrate that the rains have come back to their land. They may be able to sail again, soon.)

(This song starts playing.)

(Vikings continue to celebrate, fade to black, "THE END", credits as the song plays out.)
