I drive by this statue fairly often.
It is by a dentist office of some kind near/in Broadripple (for you Indianapolis people).
Every time I drive by, all I can think is this:
Squib. From Baman Piderman.
If you are not familiar yet, please correct that mistake.
Squib shows up a few shows in. I'm not sure how many.

5 Commercials From My Childhood That Have Stuck With Me!
Here are 5 commercials I saw in my childhood that have stuck with me.
1. Hershey's One of the All-Time Greats
This commercial is random. It's part of the reason I started liking random things so much, I think. This and the cartoon short "Now Hear This!"
2. Milk It Does a Body
Another wonderfully random commercial! I dig the spoken-song thing.
3. Who Put the Straw in My Hi-C Fruit Drink?
This is one of the first times I heard a song in a commercial and realized it was a reworded version of a song I knew.
This kinda set me on the path to writing "Santa Buddy".
4. That's a Blow Pop!
This commercial helped me make it through 16+ years of sitting through classes. I don't know that I would've graduated at all if I didn't have doodling in my boredom toolkit. My doodles have never come to life, though.
Disappointment...

I don't know why this one has stuck in my memory.
I do like the "What?! What?! Cut cut..." part.

Day 193 - Lynn Monologues! - 7/12/2015
Today's Thing-a-Day Thing is Lynn Monologues!
It's the cover for an album of instrumental songs that I haven't started recording yet!
Look for it to go up one-track-at-a-time on bandcamp!
You know, when I start recording it...
For now go buy something from my bandcamp page while you wait... or this other bandcamp page...

Day 192 - A Review of Young's Barber Shop! - 7/11/2015
Today's Thing-a-Day Thing is...
I guess it's not so much a review as a plug.
My barber shop! I've been going for most of the 10 years I've lived in Indianapolis.

Young's Barber Shop
4012 W 96th St
4012 W 96th St
Indianapolis, IN 46268
I don't remember what made me decide to check it out. I'd seen it on some drives and one day I went here instead of MasterCuts.
I often have to wait for a person or two. This is a barber shop. The little old asian lady (my barber) who runs it only cuts men's hair.
In the waiting area there are a variety of men's magazines: Rolling Stone, GQ, Details, ESPN, etc.
My barber cuts hair with clippers and a vacuum hose in hand to keep the clipped hair from getting all over. She is always quick and efficient. She doesn't say much while she's cutting my hair. but she always says something complimentary when she finishes, "So handsome", "Looks good", etc.
When I started going she charged $12.00. Now it's $15.00.
I think it's well worth the money. My hair always ends up evenly cut with the curvature of my head. Plus she always has a dish of Dum Dum suckers. I appreciate that.
If you are a guy in the Indianapolis area who needs a haircut, I highly recommend Young's.

More My Pet Monster!
I meant to post the lyrics of the My Pet Monster song in yesterday's post.
I'll post them now.
That's little me in the picture above.
Consider this post a poem instead of lyrics. I think it works.
MY PET MONSTER
Yes please come in, come in!
Thank you for attending
this private viewing of my collection
of oddities and curiosities from all around the world.
Here you will see my gallery
my Addams, Gorey, and Grimly,
but that's for the general public to see
let's travel further down.
Venture down the spiral staircase
where my artifacts are stored.
Yes some are quite illegal
but certain laws must be ignored.
To house such priceless treasures
one cannot afford
to play by the rules that uncultured men adore.
I have voodoo dolls and shrunken heads
reanimated limbs from the living dead
and gore-stained sheets stolen from the beds
of the newly exorcised.
An over here is a queer little piece of history
a shackled box shrouded in mystery.
It seems the only skeleton key
is the blood of men who lie.
And speaking of blood...
please don't mind the floors.
The red-brown spotting, the visceral smell,
and where the wood is scored
as if by someone's fingernails
as they were dragged behind the door.
It seems this evening's true purpose
can no longer be ignored!
My Pet Monster
need something to eat
it's a pity
but you're within reach.
His tummy is rumbly
and Kibble just won't do
when what he's got the munchies for
is you.
As his teeth grind your bones
for his daily bread
I ignore your screams of agony
and soon you'll be dead!
My Pet Monster
can not be restrained.
His hunger cannot
be contained.
The death of the innocent
is my one regret.
He's a monster,
but he's still my pet.
I'm pretty proud of these words. I think I wrote a solid little story here. It works as a poem, song, or prose.
Please share either form of it if you think somebody else might enjoy it.

Day 190 - My Pet Monster!!! - 7/9/2015
Today's Thing-a-Day Thing is My Pet Monster!
My Pet Monster was one of my favorite toys growing up. I still have my original, a newer talking version, and lots of other My Pet Monster merch.
I love My Pet Monster so much I insisted on doing an episode of the BCast about the terrible My Pet Monster movie (which I had my parents rent so many times when I was a child that they could've bought the tape 50 times over).
I also wrote and recorded a song about him!
I still think that video should've gone viral...
You can download the song here: JUST CLICK ON THESE WORDS!
