Simpsons Food Sampled by Sethifus!

I went to Universal Orlando Resort!

Formerly Universal Studios Orlando.

They had real Simpsons food there!

I ate and drank some!

Here are my reviews in order!

1. Krusty Burger

I tried a Krusty Burger and original Duff a couple years ago (read about it here!)

I still stand by what I said. Krusty Burger is awesome. It tastes soooooo good. I love the sauce and the fact that they put a sweet pickle on top. Yum!

2. Krusty Ribwich

The Ribwich was also very, very good! It's not in one big slab like in the cartoon

It was in a lot of little, tasty chunks.

I thought I got more pictures of it, but apparently I did not.

I guess I only took 4 hasty pics so as to not draw too much attention to myself in a public place.

3. Duff Beer!

Man, do I love Duff Beer.

If it was widely available, I'd always have it in my fridge.

It tastes sort of like Samual Adams Boston Lager, but a little different than that.

It's not the best beer, but it is my favorite beer.

4. Duff Lite

This Duff is more how I thought all Duff would taste. Weak and watered-down. Not much flavor, but you could probably drink 10 in one sitting.

I wouldn't buy Duff Lite myself, but I wouldn't turn it down if someone offered it to me.

5. Duff Dry

My-oh-my Duff Dry!

I would buy this frequently, too. Princess Melawesome said it was her favorite of the 3 Duffs. She helped me eat the burger and the ribwich as well!

I'm not sure what other beer to compare it too. It tastes like other "dry" beers I've had. All I can say is that it's really good.

That's it for this set of reviews!

I would love to go back and try some more of the defictionalized foods from downtown Springfield, but that will have to wait until I've paid off this trip.

If you have any requests for deficitionalized product reviews, ideas for "made real" segments, or just want to tell me how handsome I am, please leave a comment below or send me an e-mail at sethifusp@gmail.com

Day 213 - Contemplating Gulp 'n' Blow! - 8/2/2015

Today's Thing-a-Day Thing is (are?) my thoughts on Gulp 'n' Blow.

I've written quite a bit about my obsession with Duff Beer and the Krusty Burger from the Simpsons, but I haven't mentioned my interest-bordering-on-obsession with Gulp 'n' Blow, also from the Simpsons.

Gulp 'n' Blow is the other main fast food joint in Springfield. We don't know much about it other than it has a funny name. You can read the full summaries about it HERE, HERE, and HERE.

I'll just summarize that they have tacos and onion rings and Homer and Sideshow Mel have both worked there.

Here are some more images I found in my google image searches:

I dig the anthropomorphic food on the sign.

It looks like they have burgers and fries and salads and stuff too.

I wish we knew more. It only appears in a handful of episodes. I'm surprised they haven't used it in the show more often.

I'm also both surprised and not surprised that there is no Gulp 'n' Blow in Downtown Springfield.

I'm not surprised because it's not as well known as Krusty Burger or even the Frying Dutchman, but I am surprised because there is a restaurant owned by Cletus (?), Lisa apparently has a Tea House (??), and they gave Bumblebee Man a Taco Truck (?!?). Why they didn't make it a Gulp 'n' Blow Taco Truck I don't know. I mean, Gulp 'n' Blow tacos have been shown in the show. Does Bumblebee Man have a food truck or any kind of food establishment? Not that I've seen.

I guess that's all I have to write about Gulp 'n' Blow. If any of you have any more Gulp 'n' Blow info please share it in the comments!

Day 209 - Panera Bread's Fontina Grilled Cheese! - 7/29/2015

I have a fast food obsession.

Panera Bread's Fontina Grilled Cheese.

(all pics in this article will link to their sources)

It wasn't an obsession at first, just a really freaking good grilled cheese.

But then... I found out it's a seasonal menu item...

Now I know it's the ONLY GRILLED CHEESE I EVER WANT TO EAT.

I CAN'T NOT HAVE THIS AVAILABLE TO ME YEAR-ROUND!

I... I... I just...

I finally understand Homer in the Krusty Ribwitch episode...

Or those people who are McRib fanatics... I guess.

I like Homer more than McDonald's.

I didn't try the Krusty Ribwitch when I was in Universal Studios Florida... I've made a mistake... several mistakes...

Why didn't I eat more of them while they were still available?!?!

It's so creamy and cheesy and the herbs or seasoning or whatever... I don't know what's in it. Fontina?

So melt-y and, and...

... unhealthy and perfect.

Panera Bread, why must you hurt my heart so?

I mean, just look at this crap:

I used to look at a picture like that and think, "Yeah! That would be so good with some tomato soup!"

Now I just think... "YUCK! No thank you!"

Panera Bread, you've ruined me forever...

Days 35-41 - 7 Universal Studios Defictionalized Products Reviews! - 2/10/2015

I just got back from a trip to Florida and Universal Studios!

To make up for all the days I missed I'm going to do 7 quick reviews of a variety of Defictionalized Products I sampled around the park!

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter:

1. Butter Beer!

It's really good! It reminds me of hot chocolate, but tastes like hot, frothed milk with butterscotch syrup and whip cream. Mmmmmm!

Above you can see me drinking my hot Butter Beer in front of Gringotts and its dragon. I ordered a hot Butter Beer, but I got to taste the frozen version. I prefer the hot version.

You could get a plastic mug/glass/cup thing, but I didn't feel a need to buy one.

2. Pumpkin Juice!

The Pumpkin Juice is on our left in the picture. I got a cup of it at the 3 Broomsticks (and got to try the Hogshead beer, it was ok). The Pumpkin Juice is really good on ice! It is one of the most pumpkin-y tasting drinks I've ever had.  I also got a bottle of it. It was too strong for my taste in the bottle. The ice waters it down a bit, and I think it tastes better that way.

I bought a bottle of it so I could keep the bottle.

3. Gilly Water.

In the above picture you can see the label from a bottle of Gilly Water. I didn't actually try it, but my Mom and brother both say it's just bottled water with no other flavor.

The Harry Potter area had lots and lots and lots of other Defictionalized Products: such as wands, extendable ears, and soooo much candy. But I didn't have enough money to buy all of that, and I still wanted to buy more food at....

Springfield!

4. Duff Beer!!!!!!

This may be my favorite Defictionalized food Product, ever.

The ladies who sold it to me told me that even though you can buy a bottle of Duff Beer, they can not give the bottle itself to anyone who buys one. There is no glass allowed in the park, apparently. I understand why they would make this rule, but I think this is extremely stupid, and they both seemed to think so, too. They said I could take a picture of it, though.

I bought a plastic glass of it in Moe's Tavern first!

I love this beer! I thought it would be a cheap-tasting, watered-down crappy beer, but it was really good! I loved the flavor. It reminds me of Sam Adams Boston Lager, but it doesn't have the bitter end that SABL does.

I wish I could get this from my local grocery store. It might be another beer with different labels, but it didn't taste like anything beer I drink on a regular basis.

Since I couldn't keep the bottle, I did feel the need to buy the plastic beer glass.

I also bought...

5. Flaming Moe!

It's not alcoholic.

Princess Melawesome actually ordered it, but she let me taste it. It's good, fruity, but not alcoholic and there is not children's cough syrup in it.

It's not on fire, either. It looks like it's smoking because of dry ice (?) in the base of the glass.

I liked it, but the Duff Beer was much, MUCH better.

6. Krusty Burger!

This was awesome.

Almost as good as Duff Beer (also pictured).

If I could have a Krusty Burger and a Duff Beer at least once a week, life would be good.

7. Lard Lad Doughnut!

My brother Kyle bought a Lard Lad Doughnut. It was huge!

Luckily he shared some with me.

Lard Lad Doughnuts are also really, really good. No wonder Homer is so fat (as is pretty much all of Springfield).

Bonus Review!

8. "Bort" Keychain!

Remember this clip?

In the Kwik-E-Mart there were lots of fun Simpsons stuff for sale. Unfortunately they did not have licence plates with your name on them, but they did have Kwik-E-Mart nametags and this key chains with your name on them!

And yes, both had Bort versions! So I bought one.

I love it. It is on my new backpack I bought to use as a carry-on. It looks like the TARDIS.

Hopefully starting tomorrow I'll be updating on schedule again.
