Purple Stuff

I reviewed a drink.

I also name drop the Purple Stuff Podcast.

That's where that is.

Also!

Eats Like a Duck (a website about all the food in the Simpsons Universe) just recently went to Universal Studios! In the article about the trip they link to my article!

And ELaD called me "friend of the blog"!

That's pretty freaking cool.

Hallowe'en Mood Table!

I love that banner!

New Halloween Mood Table!

From youtube:

Dinosaur Dracula makes a Halloween Mood Table every year and a few years ago I started making them too!

This year DD made a video of his mood table. So I did too!

This one is a bit different from previous years. I have more real pumpkins around (that I grew!), I expanded to the coffee table and a chair (for My Pet Monster), and I left out a few things. Some because I wanted to, and some because I couldn't find them this year.

I plan to add to it as I find new things they year!

The video would've been longer, but I ran out of phone digital space.

The songs are:

And

You can download the songs HERE! Just click any of these words!

I love Hallowe'en!

Thankful! For Novelty! Ink! And Nostalgia! 11/23, 24, 25/2015

For the last 3 days I've been Thankful!

For:

1. Novelty!

Novelty items and the sense of newness that makes things oh-so-much-better than they'll ever be again.

2. INK!

Ink is the reason so many things I love exist: books, comics, tattoos, etc.

3. Nostalgia!

Without this Ponder Couch, Dinosaur Dracula, and most of the other sites I check daily would not be.

Day 273 - My 2015 Halloween Mood Table (shelf)! - 10/1/2015

Dinosaur Dracula's Madd Matt put the idea of a Halloween Mood Table last year.

The basic idea is that you put a bunch of Halloweeny stuff on a table to help keep your Halloween spirits alive during the season.

I made one last year. This year's is very similar, but I've added a few things and taken some away.

This year's Halloween Mood Shelf (I don't have an available table) is today's Thing-a-Day Thing!

This year I added a new popcorn tin, a Slimer toy I got from ebay, a Grim Reaper beany baby I got from Marsh... and that might be all that's new. Oh, there's also a cannon ball bottle that I bought on Talk Like a Pirate Day! It used to have rum shots in it. They are gone.

Wait... was my shrunken apple head in last years?

I can't remember.

You'll also see the Jack-o-lantern sculpture I bought from Joe from Harley Poe at a Horror Hound last year... or the year before.

Pez dispensers, a Chesire Cat head, another popcorn tin, the fake plants in a vase that are always there, a fake pumpkin I carved several years ago, a penguin (scary), a metal haunted house, an Asian mask I got from Disney World when I was 14, 2 masks Princess Melawesome and I made for the play Medea in college, a pumpkin candle, hanging ghost, pumpkin guy, and cat, a pumpkin carving kit, and Halloween crackers (the kind you pull, the pop, and have a paper crown, prize, and fortune inside).

I'm just now realizing I forgot Egon Spangler from Ghostbusters. He's up in my office. I'll add him later.

I also didn't put the Halloween movies and specials up there like I did last year. I don't know if I'll add them to the shelf or leave them by my DVD/Blu Ray player.

I plan to add other Halloweeny stuff as I get it this year.

Here are pictures of other Halloween stuff from around my house.

And here I a

Look at my tummy! It looks bigger than it is 'cuz I'm sticking it out so you can see my shirt good. It only looks a little bigger than it actually is.

And right on schedule I had a pumpkin in my backyard pumpkin patch ready to pick today!

There are several more that are well on their way! It promises to be a good crop this year!

Day 202 - Madd Matt! - 7/21/2015

Today's Thing-a-Day Thing is Madd Matt!

Madd Matt is from Dinosaur Dracula!

Every few months I post something about or inspired by Dinosaur Dracula. I can't help myself.

Today on Mummy Shark (DinoDrac's sister tumblr sight) Matt put up someone else's take on Madd Matt. I liked it and figured I'd try my hand at an interpretation.

I cannot wait for Halloween season to roll around and Madd Matt to make another appearance! Not to mention Harley, Leviathan, Leonard, and Shrunken Apple Head!

Day 140 - Dinosaur Dracula! - 5/20/2015

Today's Thing is Dinosaur Dracula!

I love the DinoDrac site! It is probably my favorite entertainment, online magazine site. If you like things like cereal mascots, cartoons, action figures, Halloween, Christmas, Gremlins, tiki culture, and everything great about the 80's and early 90's, you should check it out!

Day 46 - Ponder and Enlightening Comic! - 2/15/2015

Click on it to make it bigger!

This is the newest Ponder and Enlightening thing! Click here to start with the first comic!

Today's comic is about a dream I had the other night. Apparently these are the celebrities I'd most like to complain to about how I don't get enough attention on the internet.

Sites I love: Geek Sites!

As geek has become chic (Sheik, like the Iron variety!) there have been many, many, MANY geeky websites that have... become... around...

Here are my favorites (besides pondercouch).

1. Geekologie

Geekologie is always one of my first stops when I'm looking for some internet geekery! They often post the same geek-related stories as other geek news sites, but I like the guy's self deprecating slant and recurring jokes about hating robots (because they'll kill us all) and wanting to sex up dinosaurs!

2. Strange Kids Club

The Strange Kids Club posts lots of geeky nostalgia such as 80s horror, cartoons, and stuff like that. Right now they are doing a month of TMNT posts! They have also put out a zine (4 issues so far!)! The store also has exclusive toys, shirts, and other crazy crap for Strange Kids.

The SKC put up an article about my collection of defictionalized products and my Monster Cereals drawings for a contest, so I'm a bit biased towards this site.

3. Cereal Prize

Cereal Prize is a site much like Ponder Couch in that it is all about stuff that Topher Grace (Eric from "That 70's Show") likes. He likes a lot of the same kind of stuff I like. In fact, he recently put up a list of defictionalized products!

and finally:

4. Dinosaur Dracula!

This is my favorite site on the internet!

I have referred to DinoDrac in a few other pondercouch posts, and will probably continue to do so as it inspires more posts.

DD is all about stuff that Matt's interests, which run the gammet... gammut... gamet. which run the race to the finish line. From dinosaurs, draculas, and other scary monsters and horror movies, to kitschy candy containers and soda can art, DD covers many of the things I love in my deepest geeky heart.

Each year he spends the holiday months focusing on all things Halloween and Christmas!

Before DD Matt ran the site X-entertainment, which was pretty much the same site as DD, just written by a younger person with less website savvy. I was unaware of X-entertainment until I found out about DD. Many other sites have stolen pictures from different X-entertainment articles, which is a shame.

Anyway, I could go on and on about how much I love DinosaurDracula and wish it would update every day. Unfortunately I don't think Matt makes any money off of the site, so he can't focus on it every day and sometimes it goes weeks or over a month without and update.

Yep, it updates as sporadically as the ponder couch. Although, if I had as many followers and committed readers, I'd probably update more consistently.

Check out those geek sites and feel free to comment with other suggestions or just to say hi!

Summer Thing in Christmas Time!

It's Christmas season! So I'm going to do a quick review of a summer treat.

I have been thinking about ice cream bars in the shape of licensed characters a lot lately. Partially because the Brothers Chaps did a couple things about that:

THIS THING

and

THE LAST FEW PAGES OF THIS!

And also because I've been reading through Dinosaur Dracula's archive and he did articles about them HERE!

HERE!

and

HERE!

Oh, and HERE!

I love Dinosaur Dracula (and Mummy Shark!)!

So as I've been thinking about them, I've also been wanting to try them. You see I didn't have an ice cream truck that came near my house in the summer times. We had Schwan's delivery people, sure, but I don't think they ever had ice cream bars in the shape of licensed characters. If I ever tried one before, I don't remember.

They don't sell such things in any stores around here. At least not according to the Popsicle find our products search thing.

But!

But I happened to spy one in the scary Shell Station convenience store across the street from the Children's Museum! I saw a SpongeBob one and a (an?) Hello Kitty one! I bought both! I ate the SpongeBob one:

And Princess Melawesome ate the Hello Kitty one. (I didn't get a picture of it)

It was... okay. I mostly wanted to see how the gumball eyeballs tasted and chewed. They were pretty much what I expected: hard and then just a little bit of gum once you've chewed for a minute or two. The ice cream was Fruit Punch and Cotton Candy flavored, and it was the airiest... most full of air ice cream I've ever eaten. There was almost nothing to it. Princess Melawesome said her Hello Kitty one was the same way.

But this blog is all about stuff I like (and/or create), so I must admit that over-all I liked it. The flavor was pretty good, and I love treats that end up gum (Razzles!) so... yep... I like ice cream treats in the shape of licensed characters. And if I find more different kinds, I'll probably buy and eat them. Especially if they have gumballs as eyes or noses or rosy cheeks!

This is the most link-heavy post I've done.
