Yesterday's Thing-a-Day Thing finally posted Today is a new comic idea I might pursue.
It's about a fat little bird and the orange bunny from one of my other comics P 'n E.
Sort of an Odd Couple type thing... I don't know.
I saw this in Target today
and it gave me the idea.

Day 224 - Halloween is Coming! According to Marsh - 8/13/2015
Princess Melawesome and I were at Marsh, getting some groceries, when we stumbled upon this:
I got excited.
Not because I love candy corn. Because I don't eat it, but I still buy it sometimes during the candy corn season.
I do like how it smells.
No, I got excited because I know Autumn and Halloween is coming!
I got cautiously excited.
Halloween is the best and Autumn is great, too. But I don't want to get too excited about either and end up sick of both halfway through October.
So it was a cautious excitement.
Enough excitement to take a picture.
We kept walking, gathering more items we need. Nothing too fun, just stuff to make meals and cat stuff.
Then we saw this:
Look at all those various shades of orange, yellow, and brown!
More candy corn. And "Indian Corn"...
And those strange jelly pumpkins. I don't remember what they taste like, but I like how they look.
And a variety of other candy...
Like the candy you hand out during Halloween!
And then a bunch of tea and Gatorade.
Took another picture.
Grabbed a few more boring things, crackers and cheese and an Italian salami, etc.
Finally, I saw this bin of boxes.
HALLOWEEN FRUIT LOOPS, APPLE JACKS, AND KRAVE CEREALS!
I can't remember the last time I bought any of these cereals.
Although I do usually eat some Fruit Loops when they are available in a Continental Breakfast.
I honestly forgot that Apple Jacks were around. Never really been a fan, but I don't remember hating them either.
I do remember this Apple Jacks commercial from 1988:
Yep, that's Jaleel White who played Urkel in Family Matters.
Catchy little song.
I'd forgotten that the spokes characters for Apple Jacks are now and apple and a cinnamon stick thing.
I don't remember what Krave cereal is.
Oh yeah. I just looked it up. It's like a chocolate version of Hidden Treasures.
But look at those Halloween Boxes! Toucan Sam and the Apple Jacks guys look extra creepy in the best possible way!
That's why I decided to take a 3rd picture and combine all three with some words to make a post that would be today's Thing-a-Day Thing!
So I'm more excited for Autumn and Halloween than I'd like to be at this point in the calendar year.
That's why I'm going to jump the gun and post the Halloween playlist from my youtube page:

Gosh I hope that link embedded.

Day 223 - Bandy About! - 8/12/2015
Today's Thing-a-Day Thing is a new picture and poem!
BANDY ABOUT!
When your mind is filled with doubt
Bandy About!
When you're veering off your route
Bandy About!
If you don't feel you're bolstered,
for your life-long roller coaster,
like Wonder Bread in a toaster
Bandy About!
If you've clipped back all your clout
Bandy About!
When your happy barrel's tapped out
Bandy About!
When your mental coil's unreeling
and your stopped short by the ceiling
when you're not sure what you're feeling
Bandy About!
Bandy About!
...

Day 222 - It's a Sin to Tell A Lie! - 8/11/2015
Today's Thing-a-Day Thing is my cover of the song "It's a Sin to Tell a Lie"!
Here's the description from youtube:
I like how the title is a pattern of upper and lower case first letters!
I like this song a lot. I hope you like my rendition! (even with the mistakes!)
I love it when I get to play the sethsaphone on a song.
I'm going to post what it says on wikipedia about it, too, because youtube wouldn't let me tag all of the artists mentions in the article:

"It's a Sin to Tell a Lie" is a 1936 popular song by Billy Mayhew. Originally introduced by Fats Waller on the 78 rpm record Victor 20-1595,[1] it was revived in 1955 by Somethin' Smith and the Redheads, reaching #7 on the Billboard charts in that year. It was later a Top 40 Country hit for Slim Whitman, reaching #21 on the Top Country Singles chart in 1971, from the album of the same name. John Denver tells a story about the song and does a cover in his 1978 album, Live at the Sydney Opera House (RCA Victor VPL1-7167).[2] Other artists who have recorded versions include Billie Holiday, The Ink Spots, Tony Bennett, Bobbi Martin, Gerry Monroe, Brent Spiner, Lenny Breau, Buddy Greco,Steve Goodman, The Quebe Sisters Band, Ann Breen, Jerry Murad and the Harmonicats, Bobby Vinton, Patti Page, Vera Lynn, and George Maharis.
Originally a waltz, during the British Dixieland Revival in the 1950s and 1960s this melody was often played in fast four/four tempo, notably recorded by the Kenny Ball Band.
I hope you love it!

Day 221 - More Passing of the Stick! - 8/10/2015
Today's Thing-a-Day Thing is a new episode of Pass the Stick!
This time Bryan, Mike, and I are all playing together!
Cool Spot's the game!
I love games based around junk food mascots!
Check out the rest of our episodes and subscribe to PTS Here!
Pass the Stick doesn't have a store (... yet), but the Ponder Couch does! And everybody involved with the PasstheStick does stuff on the Ponder Couch! If you want a shirt that is related to PasstheStick, buy something from the Ponder Couch Store!

Theme Song Mystery: In the New Girl Theme, Who's That Whistling?
Here is the New Girl opening theme song:
At the end someone whistles. (the whistle starts, but then gets cut off before the full whistle is blown).
My initial thought was that it was Nick whistling. Sort of a "Well, Jess, that was... that was something..." kind of whistle.
But the more I've watched and rewatched New Girl episodes on Netflix, the more I'm not sure.
I can't see who whistles. Everyone has their back turned. It could be Nick, it could be Winston, it could even be Schmidt. The only person I know for sure is not whistling is Jesse.
Does anybody know for sure?
Are any of the actors or other production staff from New Girl reading this? Could one of you please tell me?
This is like the end of the Courage theme or that line in that song in the Labyrinth.
If you know, please send me an e-mail (sethifusp@gmail.com) or leave a comment below.

Day 220 - Indiana State Fair 2015! - 8/9/2015
Last year I wrote about some of my favorite things at the Indianapolis State Fair 2014.
I listed the 5 things I look forward to seeing every year at the fair.
Princess Melawesome and I went to this year's fair today. Most of the stuff from last year's list was still there so today's Thing-a-Day Thing is a list of stuff that caught my eye at the fair this year.
1. Popcorn Machine!
The first thing I saw the fair that caught my attention was this popcorn machine.
It's for sale!
Anybody want to buy it for me? It's only $500 (or best offer). I have the perfect place to put it at the Ponder Haus.
2. This Lamp!
This lamp was in the Arts building! Someone made it and submitted it to the competition. It's got black and white movie celebrities all over it, plus an old movie camera.
3. The Corn Palace!
The fair is featuring an exhibit about corn. In that exhibit there is an end of a section that's all about the Corn Palace!
I'll be posting more about that on The Mighty Palace of Corn (my Corn Palace blog)!
5. A Question Mark Block Art Thing!
This is the first of two video game-related art pieces made by people younger than me that were on display for the fair!
Good job, Alexis!
6. This Indiana Popcorn Orville Redenbacher Shirt!
I just thought it was cool. I'd wear this.
7. This See 'N Say Made Out of Cans!
All the other displays of cans were things like Minions and Wall-E and Veggie Tales. But this one was a giant See 'N Say that actually worked!
It was even distorted and hard to understand like a real See 'N Say!
8. Pumpkins!

These were big pumpkins, but not the giant pumpkins I look forward to seeing each year.
We couldn't find the giant pumpkins anywhere!
I don't know if they bring them in later in the fair or if they just won't have them this year.
Either way I'm disappointed.
9. The Carving of the Cheese Sculpture!
Every year there is a giant cheese sculpture at the fair. Usually we go to the fair just before the end so the cheese sculpture is always finished. This time I got to see them carving it!
10. Nightmare Fuel Clown Trashcan!
Jesus. Look at that thing...
11. Pac Man Art!
This was in the 4-H building. If you go to the fair this year, look for it.
And finally:
12. This Back to the Future Display!
It's cool! They recreated the clock tower and Doc's "weather experiment"!
There is even a little Marty in the Delorean and a little Doc working on the wires!
That's all the stuff that caught my eye this year!
What did you see at the fair this year?
Reminder: There are a lot of new shirts you can and should buy from the Ponder Couch Store!
