Knock-off Calvin Clipart!

I haven't done anything for Project C.A.L.V.I.N. and H.O.B.B.E.S. lately.

I don't know when I will again.

But for now, this:

Somebody tried to draw Calvin, but didn't "really" try.

That's not what this is about.

It's not about all those peeing Calvin things either.

I'm posting this because I saw this clipart recently:

It was in a slideshow presentation workshop thing for work.

It was in black and white, but I could still tell that his hair would be yellow and shirt would be red.

I knew this because that is pretty much Calvin. It's drawn a little differently, but it's Calvin alright.

After seeing it and finding it on a google image search, I decided to look for more clipart that was inspired by (ripped off from) Calvin and Hobbes.

Here's the only other one I found.

The hair goes the other way, but it's still yellow. And his shirt isn't red, but it's still striped in the same way.

I love these (and other knock-off stuff)! I would love to have a full collection of them on the Ponder Couch!

If you find any please send them my way!

Project CALVIN and HOBBES: the G.R.O.S.S. Password!

From the May 5th, 1987 Calvin and Hobbes comic: http://www.gocomics.com/calvinandhobbes/1987/05/05

I added music and the 3rd verse Hobbes refers to in the last panel!

Tigers are mean!
Tigers are fierce!
Tigers have teeth
and claws that pierce!
Tigers are great!
They can't be beat!
If I was a tiger
that would be neat!

(whistle)

Tigers are strong!
Tigers are wild!
Tigers are suave!
I wish I had their style!

Project CALVIN and HOBBES: Calvin's Tiger Drawing!

Hello! It's still May for a couple of hours!

I almost forgot to make a May entry for Project CALVIN and HOBBES! But here is a good one.

On the cover of 'Scientific Progress Goes "Boink"' we see Calvin's bedroom.

   (image from amazon.com)

On the wall is a drawing Calvin did of Hobbes in... marker? It might be paint or crayon, but the purposes of this recreation let's say it's marker.

(picture from my book and iphone, as are all the other drawings henceforth.)

I made this drawing a real thing.

I mean, it was a real drawing when Bill Watterson first drew it, but I made it into a marker drawing, not a picture of a picture.

No... that doesn't work either... I... this is a picture of a picture too, but I drew the drawing as if a child drew it instead of in a comic strip panel.

They look a bit alike.

There are differences. Mine has more marker smears, the orange blended with the black to make darker orange color while Calvin's did not. But I think mine looks a lot like Calvin's would in real life. I think I had one more stripe in the body of my tiger than Calvin's did.

Mine is not in a frame or matted (yet), and the legs might be a bit differently-shaped, but I think it turned out pretty good.

Sprite the Stuffed Tiger thinks that it looks more like him than Hobbes.

That's all for now! I will try to make the next entry in PROJECT CALVIN and HOBBES before the end of June.

Project CALVIN and HOBBES: Ping-Pong Eyeballs!

So... one time Calvin made Ping-Pong eyeballs to make it look like he was paying attention in class. So I made some too!

(From "The Complete Calvin and Hobbes, Book 1", pg. 192 and "Something Under the Bed is Drooling" pg. 54)

I tried to pose with them like Calvin.

And so did Sprite.

Project CALVIN and HOBBES: Hobbes Cosplay!

(check out other installments of Project CALVIN and HOBBES: HERE and HERE!)

It's been over a month since our last installment in the Project CALVIN and HOBBES series, but it is still March! So here is this month's Calvin and Hobbes things made real! As you can see in the picture above, my stuffed tiger Sprite and I have been hard at work coming up with our next big video or other piece in the series.

In the mean time (and for this month's last-minute installment)...

Sprite loves Hobbes and often cosplays as him. Here are a couple of his recent pics.

In the strip Hobbes often gets washed in the washing machine.

(pg. 16 in "Calvin and Hobbes" and pg. 31 in "the Complete Calvin and Hobbes" book 1)

And here is Sprite cosplaying as Calvin and Hobbes trying to get into the movie "Vampire Sorority Babes".

(pg. 51 in "Calvin and Hobbes" and 65 in "the Complete Calvin and Hobbes" book 1)

And one final picture. In the strip we find out that Calvin's shirt is made in Taiwan.

(pg. 36 in "Calvin and Hobbes" and pg. 50 in "the Complete Calvin and Hobbes" book 1)

I checked my Calvin red and black stripe shirt, but unfortunately mine was made in China.

That's all for now! Thanks for looking and check back often! I hope to keep adding something to the project series at least once a month.

Feel free to send me links to your own Calvin and Hobbes creations in the comments! I would love to have others take part in Project Calvin and Hobbes.
