Project CALVIN and HOBBES: Calvin's Tiger Drawing!

Hello! It's still May for a couple of hours!

I almost forgot to make a May entry for Project CALVIN and HOBBES! But here is a good one.

On the cover of 'Scientific Progress Goes "Boink"' we see Calvin's bedroom.

   (image from amazon.com)

On the wall is a drawing Calvin did of Hobbes in... marker? It might be paint or crayon, but the purposes of this recreation let's say it's marker.

(picture from my book and iphone, as are all the other drawings henceforth.)

I made this drawing a real thing.

I mean, it was a real drawing when Bill Watterson first drew it, but I made it into a marker drawing, not a picture of a picture.

No... that doesn't work either... I... this is a picture of a picture too, but I drew the drawing as if a child drew it instead of in a comic strip panel.

They look a bit alike.

There are differences. Mine has more marker smears, the orange blended with the black to make darker orange color while Calvin's did not. But I think mine looks a lot like Calvin's would in real life. I think I had one more stripe in the body of my tiger than Calvin's did.

Mine is not in a frame or matted (yet), and the legs might be a bit differently-shaped, but I think it turned out pretty good.

Sprite the Stuffed Tiger thinks that it looks more like him than Hobbes.

That's all for now! I will try to make the next entry in PROJECT CALVIN and HOBBES before the end of June.

More Project CALVIN and HOBBES stuff herehere, here, and here !

If you've ever made something from Calvin and Hobbes into real life, comment below and share a link!

A review of Virtua Fighter Kids on the Sega Saturn

I've always been a fan of the Virtua Fighter series and I finally got around to playing the kids version of this game. Or should I say, the Java Tea edition. Watch the review to find out more! Clicky!

A Collection of Common Background Songs: Part 4

(See part 1 , part 2, and part 3!)

Here's some more Common Background Songs!

1. "Sing Sing Sing" by Benny Goodman

This song is everywhere. If it's not "In the Mood" or one of the other songs on the previous parts of this list, it's this song about singing.

2. "The Sailors Hornpipe" by... somebody...

This song is played in Popeye cartoons a lot, I think, and any other funny shows involving sailors as well!

3. "The Pink Panther Theme" by Henry Mancini

This is one of my favorite songs. It is used when people are being sneaky and spy-like. You probably already know this song and hear it all the time.

4. "Peter Gunn Theme" by Henry Mancini

Another fun song that brings to mind spies and suits and dirty gin martinis.

5. "James Bond Theme" by Monty Norman.

If you don't know this song... um... why are you reading/listening to this list?

6. "Secret Agent Man" by Johnny Rivers

This song is forever connected to the James Bond theme in my mind.

7. "Linus and Lucy" by the Vince Guaraldi Trio

Another of my favorite songs. I love all things Peanuts and every single song Vince Guaraldi wrote and recorded for any of the specials.

8. "Christmas Time is Here" by Vince Guaraldi Trio

One of the saddest Christmas songs, and one of my favorite. I like it so much I covered it myself.

That's it for now! If I'm missing any songs in this list, please let me know in the comments so I can have a part 5!

A For-Real Waffle Taco! - a Review

So I did "Ponder and Enlightening" for over 7 years and in that time I made up Waffle Taco Hut and based it on Taco Bell. I was surprised to learn a year or three ago that they were testing a breakfast waffle taco at some Taco Bell locations. I was even more surprised to learn that they were selling waffle tacos nation-wide!

It's like somebody at Taco Bell read my silly little comic and thought it was a good idea!

The flavor of the waffle taco is different than I imagined. In my comic a Waffle Taco was like a regular taco with a round waffle instead of the shell/tortilla. Taco Bell's Waffle Taco is a rectangular waffle with sausage or bacon, egg, and cheese. It tasted better than I though it would.
